It is always exciting to see The Costume Institute exhibition at Met every year in Spring. For those of you who cannot visit either because you live far away or just don’t have time go, I’m posting a lot of photos for you to enjoy! The exhibition is about reconciling the handmade and the machine-made a.k.a Manus X Machina in the creation of haute couture and ready to wear. Throughout the whole exhibition my eyes pop out of my head, it was just STUNNING with beautiful embroidery, feather work, pleating, 3-D print art, and so on. I absolutely loved every pieces.
This gorgeous dress is the center piece of exhibition. By Karl Lagerfeld from Chanel this wedding dress was designed and made with glass, crystals, paillettes, anthracite cannetilles, and gold leather leaf motifs. The medallion is super long that just covers the entire room. The design on the medallion was manipulated to give it the appearance of a randomized, pixelated baroque pattern.
These dresses are just mind blowing pieces. They are Machine-sewn silk-wool gazar with hand-embroidered plastic drinking straws. Really! They are drinking STRAWS cut by hand.

These dresses are Machine-sewn black cotton twill, hand-painted with gray and purple polyurethane resin and iron filings, hand-sculpted with magnets.
Issey Miyake dresses were amazing with innovative pleating technique in paper.

These are one of my favorite pieces by Noa Raviv. Of course there are a lot more interesting pieces but I am sharing the ones I like the most.
